Hungry Giraffe is on Sale now!

Hi everyone.  I’ve got some good news for all you Hungry Giraffe fans who own a fairly recent Sony gaming device, because Hungry Giraffe is going on sale on pretty much all of them. :)   For PS3 and PSP owners, the PlayStation minis version of the fabulous Hungry Giraffe will have its price reduced from £2.49 to £1.24.  Remember that this is one of the only minis which displays at a higher resolution when played on PS3.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation Vita version of Hungry Giraffe will have its price bitten in half as it falls from £2.39 to £1.19.  You’ll have to hurry though, as both sale prices return to normal on the 6th November.

While Hungry Giraffe might not yet be out in North America, I’d just like to remind all our North American readers that OMG HD Zombies! will be released on PSN next Tuesday, priced at a spine chillingly good $3.99. It’s the perfect Halloween treat for all you Vita owners out there. ;)

That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then you can join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages where we will be posting all the news from Laughing Jackal.

OMG HD Zombies! coming to North America this Halloween

Hi everyone.  Last week we briefly looked up from Flame Over to discover that OMG HD Zombies! has passed submission at SCEA. While it’s taken FAR longer than we’d hoped I can now announce that OMG HD Zombies! will be released to North American Vita owners on the 29th October 2013, at the undeadly price of $3.99.  So, just in time for Halloween! :)

OMG HD Zombies is an enhanced remake of the critically acclaimed OMG-Z which currently sits in the top 10 PSP games of all time on Metacritic.

And with OMG HD Zombies, Laughing Jackal have added a host of exciting new features, including:

New GraphicsOMG HD Zombies has been completely redrawn at PS Vita’s native resolution

More Zombies – 3 new zombie classes have been added and all zombie death animations have been tripled.  So…much…gore…

More Levels – 19 brand new levels, plus all existing levels have been re-worked bringing the total to 100 levels of zombie slaying action!

More Upgrades – Now featuring 100 upgrades to unlock!

Trophies – 12 new bronze, silver and gold trophies to unlock.

Online Leaderboards – Compare skills with your PSN friends and the best zombie slayers around the world, across 100+ Leaderboards.

Touch Controls – Choose between traditional controls and the all-new touch control method.

New Comics – 2 new endings, plus more of the story is revealed in the specially extended comic book intro.

Prestige Mode – Complete the game to 100% Platinum standard to unlock Prestige Mode and receive a Leaderboard multiplier.  “Prestige” up to 20 times for some truly HUGE scores!

When released in Europe, OMG HD Zombies! was a big hit with the gaming press. PushSquare, for example, awarded it 8/10 saying:

“If you missed out on this clever take on the zombie apocalypse the first time around, then OMG HD Zombies! is a must buy. The fresh undead types and overhauled visuals will offer something new for seasoned slayers, while the sheer satisfaction of the core gameplay loop will delight newcomers.”

The Sixth Axis also gave it 8/10, stating: “Overall OMG HD Zombies! is a great title by Laughing Jackal. The simple aesthetic hides a game that requires you to think before you act, and to conserve your supplies. When a chain is successful it feels great, and those rare occasions where you get 100% clearance are very satisfying.”

Shopto agreed, calling OMG HD Zombies: “...the perfect quick play game for the Vita”

In other news, some of you may remember that we worked on the Steam port of Agarest: Generations of War for our friends at Ghostlight. Well, it looks like we might be putting the experience gained with that port to good use on one of our games in the near future. Ooh, mysterious! :)

That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then you can join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages where we will be posting all the news from Laughing Jackal.

Laughing Jackal announce Flame Over for PlayStation Vita

Hi everyone.  As you might have seen over on the PlayStation blog our latest project Flame Over has been announced.  But what is Flame Over?  Well fortunately for you our senior producer Al headed over to the PSN Blog to give more details.

“Flame Over is a fast-paced, action-packed firefighting roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels and complex fire A.I. that radiates, jumps between objects, consumes fuel and destroys the environment in real time.

The player's objective is simple. Guide a firefighter through the sixteen floors of Infernal Industries' skyscraping HQ, exploring your environment, seeking out loot, secrets and power ups and hunting down blazes against the clock.

Levels in Flame Over are fully destructible and feature four different themes, many room types, secrets items and levels, environmental hazards and tons of lovely loot and power ups. Nom nom nom!

A firefighting game needs a legendary hero, so we bring you Blaze Carruthers, London's foremost firefighting hero. The only thing bigger than Blaze's heart is his luxuriant moustache, and NO fire is gonna singe its tips!

The idea for Flame Over was born during a fire training day last year. I was watching a video about the chemistry of fire and got thinking about how you'd translate the danger of firefighting  into an action game. I spoke with a few industry peers and some of the SCEE team about it and right away knew we were on to something.

We've created a multi-layered random level generator so the player can never 'learn' the best way through each level. Like a real firefighter you'll be walking into the unknown every time! Each level has its own theme, room types, fuel objects, mini missions, secrets and victims to rescue.

Blaze will be discovering each level's layout, using his trusty hose, extinguisher and fire axe to track down blazes, hack through doors and walls and rescue imperilled workers and - of COURSE - save cutesy cats. ^_^

With no two play throughs ever the same, players can also save out their favourite levels, set Challenges and share them with their friends other players worldwide using Near.

You will also be able to fuel the flame war using more traditional Cash Dash and Time Attack leaderboards.

Flame Over will be blazing a trail onto PlayStation Vita in Q1 of 2014.”

That’s all for now.   I’ll be back next week, but until then you can join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages where we will be posting all the news from Laughing Jackal.
