What’s new in the world of Laughing Jackal?

Hi everyone.  It’s been another busy week here at Laughing Jackal as we currently have several projects on the go.  First of all I’m happy to report that work has now begun on the North American version of Hungry Giraffe for PS Vita.  This version will include all the fixes made in last week’s European patch.  Submission very soon :)

In other news, as some of you may be aware we have been working on a PC conversion of the mighty PS3 and Xbox 360 SRPG Agarest: Generations of War for our friends at Ghostlight.  After a difficult start, the work on the port has been going well and it looks extremely likely that we will be approaching our first master candidate very soon.  The whole conversion process has been very interesting, not just for PC compatibility issues creating numerous problems, but also in terms of adapting the UI (User Interface). Taking a game that was designed for consoles and controllers and making it work with mouse and keyboard has certainly been a challenge.  Despite all the hurdles and with a lot of help from the amazing host of Ghostlight Beta testers, we feel that we have something very solid; almost to the point where you don’t have to use the keyboard!

Whilst we’ve worked on a huge number of ports in the past, we’ve certainly learned a lot from this process. Even though we have a few hardcore PC gamers here, a lot of the advice and requests we’ve received from the Beta testers has been really invaluable.  So a big thank you has to go out to everyone who’s helped with the port of Agarest.

Moving back to our own projects now and we’ve had an intern, Damien, joining us for the last few weeks and he has been hard at work with the team here on a design document for a new strategy game that we’ve been cooking up.  Although the game’s still in its very early stages, I can say that so far the design and prototype artwork is looking very promising indeed and I hope to have more news on that for you in the not too distant future.  Not only are we working on the projects I’ve talked about today, but we’re also still very hard at work on a more action focused game for the Vita which I’ve mentioned a little before.  I can’t say too much about it just yet, but you can expect to hear a lot more from me about this very ‘hot’ game in the next couple of weeks.

That’s all for now.   I’ll be back next week, but until then you can join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages where we will be posting all the news from Laughing Jackal.

Fixed a bug where the game would hang at start up

Fixed a potential crash after numerous hours of play

Fixed Friends Leaderboard

In other news, the North American version of OMG HD Zombies! is still in submission with SCEA.  We’re hoping to have more news for all our North American fans soon.

OMG HD Zombies are coming to North America!

Hi everyone!  We’ve been very busy this past week working on two game submissions and I’m pleased to say that both of them are now in submission with Sony.  What submissions you ask?  Well we’ve got some news for both our North American and European fans.

First of all, I’m very happy to report that the Hungry Giraffe PS Vita patch has been submitted to Sony.  This patch will fix the problem at boot up and the issue with the Friends Leaderboard.  While the patch has taken longer to finish than we’d hoped, we’re expecting that it will be with you all in the very near future.

The other submission was the long awaited North American PS Vita build of OMG HD Zombies, meaning that our North American fans will hopefully soon be able to enjoy slaughtering hundreds of thousands of zombies with a touch of a finger (or press of a button!)

In between the submissions, our senior produce Al has also found time to Tweet some hints about our latest project, including this rather nice character art:

I can’t reveal anything else just yet but we might have some more information for you sometime after Hungry Giraffe and OMG HD Zombies make it to the North American PSN store.

That’s all for now.   I’ll be back next week, but until then you can join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages where we will be posting all the news from Laughing Jackal.
