Hi everyone, long time no see. Sorry about the lack of blogs recently. I’m aware that we haven’t had much news to share lately, but hopefully that will be changing in the near future.
I did, however, recently have a chat with The Sixth Axis to discuss our experiences on PlayStation Mobile and talk about our upcoming PSM games. You can read the resulting interview here.
Long term readers may remember highfvi’s quite frankly insane single player high score on our first full PS3 title Cubixx HD. Well, he’s been at it again and this time he’s been taking the Co-op players on. Playing on his own, highfvi smashed malock1’s high score of 46,330,370, scoring an incredible 137,151,763 and showing once again just how much better he is at Cubixx HD then pretty much anyone else on the planet.
Of course, beating highfvi’s amazing score isn’t the only challenge available on Cubixx HD and it was recently pointed out to me how few players have managed to collect some of our Trophies. Now, we don’t think it’s that hard, but why don’t you see for yourselves (Go on, you know you want to! ^_^) and enjoy what Official PlayStation Magazine (UK) called: “One of the most gloriously addictive, knuckle-bitingly frustrating experiences you can have on PSN”. Cubixx HD is available for just £6.49 ($9.99) on the PSN Store.
That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+ pages?

Hi everyone. As some of you may know this Monday saw the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first book in Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone’s legendary Fighting Fantasy series, Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and 30 years later the series is still going strong with Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy: Blood of the Zombies released earlier this month.
Most of us here at Laughing Jackal grew up playing the Fighting Fantasy series of gamebooks and in my case it was a childhood spent with Gamebooks and Dungeons & Dragons that led me into the world of Videogames via the likes of Planecape Torment and Baldurs Gate. So to have the chance to work on the PSN conversions of these was amazing. Several of us even got to meet Steve Jackson who was incredibly helpful & supportive when we were converting the games to PSN Minis. Sadly I wasn’t one of the people who got to meet him but I did get to do a two part interview with him for this blog which can be found here & here.
With so many classic Fighting Fantasy books to choose from one of the hardest parts was picking which book to convert first. In the end we settled on starting with Talisman of Death as not only was it one of our favourites but it was also one of the more suitable ones to be converted to a video game. Of course after we’d settled on Talisman of Death the choice for our second conversion was fairly obvious as we all wanted to tackle the big one The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
Actually converting the games presented a few challenges as there were a surprising number of exceptions to the rules printed in the front of the book. Obviously when a reader is playing though the book itself this isn’t a problem as they can spot what they need to do differently when the time comes and follow the instructions but clearly that doesn’t quite work when a console is doing the interpretation and each of those exceptions to the rules had to be coded into the game separately.
To celebrate this 30th anniversary our Fighting Fantasy bundle featuring Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death & Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain will be on sale for just €2.49 (£1.99) down from €5.99 (£4.99) until the 5th September. You’ll also be able to pick up Cubixx HD & the Ace Armstrong / Stellar Attack Minis Bundle as part of the PSN sale until the 5th September.
That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+ pages?

Hi everyone. Due to time constraints I’m going to have to leave the promised PlayStation Mobile blog post for another day, however I do have some good news for all of you who use the SCEE PSN Store, as three (well, five actually) awesome Laughing Jackal Games have just hit the PSN Summer Sale.
First up is the amazing cube-slicing action of our first PS3 title, the awesome Cubixx HD which has seen it’s price slashed from €6.19 (£4.99) to just €3.59 (£2.99).
That’s not all. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the first book in Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone’s legendary Fighting Fantasy series, (that’s Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain fact fans) we have cut the price of our Fighting Fantasy: Warlock and Talisman PSN Minis Bundle from €5.99 (£4.99) down to just €2.49 (£1.99).
The Fighting Fantasy Minis bundle pack features both The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Talisman of Death, both featuring the classic dice-based combat system and a brand new gameplay mode, making it the perfect way to relive your childhood adventures, or jump into the series for the first time.
Lastly, we have slashed the price of our stunning Ace Armstrong / Stellar Attack Minis Bundle from €4.99 (£3.99) down to just €1.99 (£1.74). Featuring our most challenging title, the side scrolling shooter Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags plus the puzzle-shooter Stellar Attack, this stunning Minis bundle is perfect for everyone especially for those of you who want to shoot lots of aliens.
These amazing discounts only last until the 5th of September so if you want to take advantage of these brilliant offers then hurry to the PlayStation Store. I should say that if you can’t see the minis bundles in the Summer Sale section (due to some pesky technical gremlins), you can grab them at their low Sale price directly in the minis section of the store.
That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+ pages?
