Achievement Unlocked

Hi everyone. I don’t usually talk about sales figures here, but I’m going to make an exception this once as we’ve just reached a very nice milestone over in North America, where as of the 22nd April our games have been downloaded over 500,000 times! :)

We’re obviously delighted with the popularity of our games both in North America and here in Europe and with how the community surrounding us on Facebook and Twitter have been steadily growing, even if that hasn’t really been reflected in the number of comments here (hint, hint :))

To celebrate this, why not join us on our Twitter account? This week we’re going to be Tweeting to give away North American and European codes for some of our games, starting from tomorrow.

I’ll close with the news that next week we’ll finally be able to reveal which of our PlayStation Minis has been converted to iPhone.  It’s been a very closely guarded secret and so far the most popular guesses seem to be OMG-Z, Orbit and Hungry Giraffe, with everyone seeming to think it will be one of our more recent titles.  Are you all right, or are we going to be dipping further into our back catalogue? Find out next week!

That’s all for now.  I’ll be back next week with the reveal, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages?

A new face appears

Hi everyone.  Another week has passed here at Laughing Jackal.  But something has changed in the office.  There’s someone sitting at what was previously an empty desk.  Fortunately before attempting to have him removed we allowed him time to explain himself.  It turns out that Jake had been invited here for some work experience :).  So we’ve been having a bit of extra help around the office, and we’ve certainly kept him busy.

His first few days were spent helping me with the testing and I also got to run the “lucky” person through a compliance check; a thrilling and enjoyable task if ever there was one.

Sadly for him he’s been forced to move on and is currently doing a little concept work for the infamous “Mystery Game X”; a task that, while probably interesting enough in its own way, cannot compare to the glories of compliance testing.

Jake’s going to be here a few more weeks yet and in that time we’re going to be teaching him a bit more about how we do things here at Laughing Jackal.

On an unrelated topic we’re expecting to be able to announce the first of our Minis to be converted to iPhone sometime in May, so this period of unnatural quietness in terms of news will soon be coming to an end :).

That’s all for now.  I’ll be back next week, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages?

A Mini First

Hi everyone.  Sorry about last week’s lack of blogpost.  I’ve been really busy.  To make up for it  I’ve got some very cool news today from Official PlayStation Magazine UK as Hungry Giraffe has become the first PSN Mini ever to receive 10/10.  The review which can be found in the May issue says "God, I love this. Hungry Giraffe (£2.49) is as cute as a puppy with an inside-out ear and so addictive that it’s likely to make you miss your stop on the bus and not really care."

It’s quite simply a fantastic achievement for Hungry Giraffe and we’re all delighted with both this review and the general reaction to Hungry Giraffe from the critics and our fans.

I know I haven’t been talking too much about what we’re currently doing in the last few blogs but rest assured we’re still hard at work (well Al’s not he’s on holiday in Cornwall this week :)).  Gavin is still hard at work porting one of our Minis titles to iPhone.  For contractual reasons I can’t tell you which one it is yet :( but I’d be interested in hearing which of our games you would want to see ported onto the iPhone.

As for “Mystery Game X” it is still progressing well, although there have been a few re-thinks due to some of the initial ideas not translating from paper to game. Which while slightly sad we feel it will make for a stronger game in the end.  We’ve been asked not to share too many details on the game itself yet but we’re all still really excited about what is shaping up to be our biggest ever project.

That’s all for now.  I’ll be back next week, but until then why not on join us on our Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+  pages?
