Introducing the Laughing Jackal Bundles

Well the experiments were indeed foul and unholy.  They were also a lot faster than I expected.  So in addition to this week’s range of price cuts I can now reveal more details of the bundles which will shortly be making their way onto the PlayStation Store.

Our first bundle is for all the fans of space shooters out there, as we’re combining the side-scrolling thrills of Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags with the puzzle shooting of Stellar Attack.  Our Ace Armstrong / Stellar Attack bundle will cost you just £3.99 (€4.99).

Our second bundle combines two of our most popular puzzle games: the mini that started it all, Cubixx, and our take on the rhythm game genre, Vibes.  Again, the Cubixx / Vibes bundle will cost just £3.99 (€4.99).

Finally we’ve got a treat for those of you who just want to experience the classic RPG fun of Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy series on your PSP or PS3 as we’re going to be combining both our Fighting Fantasy adaptations Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death and Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain into one bargain package with our Fighting Fantasy: Talisman and Warlock bundle priced at only £4.99 (€5.99).

All of these great deals will be available on PSN from Wednesday the 15th of February with North American releases coming soon.  So between this and our recently announced price cuts there’s never been a better time to try out our back catalogue.

And if you like what you see why not follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ and subscribe to our Youtube channel. We’re always happy to see new faces and answer any questions you might have.

New Year Price Cutting

Hi everyone. Over the last year we’ve seen a lot of new faces here on the blog and on our  Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages.  Some of you have been brought in by Cubixx HD, some of you by our Fighting Fantasy adaptations and some of you by our PlayStation + promotions.  Wherever you’ve found us, it’s been great to meet you all!

But of course those games aren’t all that we’ve done here at Laughing Jackal.  Including the game that started it all, the mighty Cubixx, we’ve developed 10 games and - as we quite like to brag - we’ve been thinking up ways of showing off our back catalogue to you.  Sadly, the television companies haven’t been particularly keen on the idea of replacing their football coverage with shows dedicated to our games, so we’ve had to go with Plan B, which involves - as those of you who’ve read my title have already guessed - some tempting price cuts on a few of our older games on the SCEE PSN Store.

As of the latest PlayStation Store update, the prices of our stunning rhythm game Vibes and Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags, perhaps the most extreme challenge Laughing Jackal can offer, have been slashed from £3.99/€4.99 to £2.49/€2.99.

Or perhaps you fancy trying our space-based, puzzle shooter, Stellar Attack the price of which has been cut from £3.49/€3.99 to £2.49/€2.99.

We’ve also got something for those of you who fancy some classic RPG gaming, as our first adaptation of Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy series, Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death, has just seen its price reduced from £3.49/€3.99 to just £2.49/€2.99!

We’re not just hammering down the prices on our minis either, as the magnificent Cubixx HD sees its price slashed from £6.29/€7.99 to a mouth watering £4.99/€6.19.

Talking of Cubixx HD, we’ve not forgotten our North American fans either and I’m delighted to be able to tell you that Cubixx HD is on sale as part of Sony’s 12 for ‘12 sale, with its price cut from $9.99 to just $6.99, with PlayStation Plus users able to get it for the rock-bottom bargain price of $4.89!

Inspired by Victor Frankenstein we’ve also begun experimenting with some amazing bundles and we’ll be revealing the results of these no doubt foul and unholy experiments in a future blog. Until then, happy shopping! :)

In Between Projects: What We’re Working On So Far This Year

Greetings one and all and I hope you’re all having a great 2012 so far!

I’ve been asked to write the Blog this week, probably because we’re in that awkward phase between projects. Hungry Giraffe is pretty much all done: we’re one hundred per cent code approved in SCEE and the code submission for SCEA will go in any day now that we’ve finally got our ESRB rating (10+ folks - that naughty giraffe!).

In the meantime, it’s still far too early to discuss anything more regarding Mystery Game X. What I can tell you (at least I think I can!) that we’re currently working feverishly on getting the controls to feel right, which remains a subject of repeated and intense internal debate. However, I take this as a good sign. It means there’s something cool at the centre of things worth fighting for! While we all agree on the basics some of the finer points regarding responsiveness and fine control still divide those involved. I am sure we’ll hit a compromise that pleases everyone very soon. :)

To that end, Rich - our industrious programming stalwart - is busy adding features and functionality to our player script and in-house level editor. He’s off for a few weeks well-deserved holiday soon, so he’s leaving us with enough ammo to keep on trucking* while he’s away. Who knows? By the time he gets back we may have a control system agreed! [DM – It had better be!]

In other news we’re currently working on Laughing Jackal’s first ever iOS game (a conversion of a minis title). It’s early doors, but good progress is being made and we’re confident it’ll make the move across to iPhone in style. We are looking forward to that alpha build in the next week or so.

Right, I think that’s plenty of news for one week. Ross will be back next week with another Blog. In the meantime please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ and subscribe to our Youtube channel. All of that kind of stuff really does help us keep doing what we do, plus it gives us a nice warm feeling inside, like a puppy having its belly rubbed.

Bye!

Al

*I think it’s worth pointing out now that Mystery Game X has nothing to do with either ‘ammo’ or ‘trucking’. ;)
