As promised last week I can now tell you the release date for Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Laughing Jackal’s PlayStation Minis conversion of the first in the legendary Fighting Fantasy series of gamebooks.
We will be releasing Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain on the 26th October 2011 in Europe and the 1st of November 2011 in North America, available for the, well, fantastic :) price of £3.49, €3.99 or $4.99.
In order to whet your appetite, here’s a brand new Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain trailer we’ve created:
Due to the feedback we’ve been receiving from fans of the series, we’ve made several changes to the game since Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death including:
The Log Book now remembers which book you were in (Character, Item or Page)
The user can now return to the top of the page by pressing the up button when the first option is highlighted
A ‘Good’ generic alignment portrait has been added to Character Bios
A new mini game has been added to the end of the quest
But we can’t reveal any more on that last point for fear of spoilers
Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain also features our own tile-based combat system as an alternative to the classic dice-based system, so whether you want a new take on the classic game, or wish to stay as close to the original experience as you can get without holding a D6, Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is the Mini for you!

Hi everyone. We’ve been busy here at Laughing Jackal of late and while everyone’s been talking about our upcoming mini entitled Orbit, we haven’t forgotten about all the other games that we’ve got in the works. And neither have the lovely people at SCEE, who I’m happy to say have just approved our most recent PSN mini conversion of Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson’s Fighting Fantasy series, the classic that is Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain! Keep checking back with us because we’ll be posting release and price details as well as showing off the brand new trailer very soon.
Some of you might also remember our massive Cubixx HD SCEE code drop, in which our Senior Producer, Al, went on a mad code dropping spree across our Twitter account. Well, we’ve got something similar – but not exactly the same - planned for our SCEA (North American) codes. I’ll have more details for you all soon, so in the meantime keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook for all the latest news on our exciting competition.
I’ll be back next week with all the latest from Laughing Jackal.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on our Facebook and Twitter you will have seen hints of a new Top Secret game we’ve been working on. Well it’s a Top Secret no longer as Laughing Jackal can now reveal our newest PlayStation Mini…
Help Doc, the Institute of Space Research Institute’s last remaining astronaut, as he explores the Solar System in as many different space “ships” as the ISRI can cobble together. You’ll need to survey the gas giant Jupiter, probe the blackest depths of Uranus and collect all the gold ore you can find to fill Prof’s bank account, err... I mean revive the failing space program.
To aid you, Prof has planned out upgrades for 8 of your ships to help separate you from your cash, err... sorry, we mean improve your flight capabilities, enabling you to circumnavigate all the planets of the Solar System, before travelling further into the universe.
We’ll be sharing more news with you from our secret documents as soon as the IRSI declassifies them.
Orbit is coming soon to PlayStation Minis.
