Good day ladies and gentlemen,
Hope no one is too hung over after enjoying St. Patrick’s Day? I’m sure you all enjoyed sampling a pint or two of your favourite Irish Stout! I know I did…
Anyway, I digress. We all know why we’re really here; that’s right, the weekly Cubixx HD news update!
“But Steven, what are you going to discuss this week?” I hear you all scream. Well, today’s update looks at a brand new game mode, CHALLENGES! This is my favourite game mode. I’m currently in the process of setting the times/scores for the various Challenges, and I can assure you that some of them are very hard to beat! So bring it on (when you can buy the game obviously)!
Challenge levels are unlocked as you play through Arcade mode and offer various game modes in which you must try to win Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. You’ll need to make perfect runs in order to win Platinum medals; think along the lines of Time Splitters’ level of difficulty! However, the Bronze medals will be much easier for the less experienced player to unlock, so there’s something for everybody.
With a bit of time and practice everybody should be able to unlock the Platinum medals without too much difficulty…. so good luck everybody, Mwahahahaahhaha (my evil laugh)!
Below is a list of my current three favourite levels, which should also give you an idea of what you might expect to see in the Challenges mode:
Speed Freak 1 – This challenge requires you to beat a relatively simple level as quickly as you can. The only problem is that you have maxxed out speed! Platinum medals are always hidden, so this is a spoiler… to get Platinum on Speed Freak 1 you will have to finish the level in under 8 seconds!!!
Light Speed!
Chaser Buster 1 – This is for all you sadists out there. Kill as many Line Chasers as you can on your way to completing the level. There are a few arguments about the target score on this; I think 100 Line Chasers for Platinum, but Rich (programmer) thinks this is too hard…. Hopefully I’ll have the final say and this can remain a demanding challenge.
Bustin’ makes me feel good!
Bright Spark – This challenge requires you to get a really high score… The only problem is the super-fast Fuse chasing you, meaning combos and long lines are hard to achieve! You’ll need to move quickly on this level to succeed.
One fast Fuse!
These 3 challenges are just the tip of the iceberg; there are 50 Challenges in total! So get prepared to spend a lot of time trying to achieve the Platinum medals on all 50 levels, you’ll need both skill and luck to get them all!
Tune in next week for some details on the various Attack modes!
Thanks,
Steven

Hello again guys and gals,
Who’s ready for the weekend, or more importantly who’s ready for more Cubixx HD news? If it’s the latter then you’re in the right place!
Today I’m going to give a quick run down of Arcade mode.
Cubixx HD features 50 Arcade levels, yes 50! Now that is a lot of levels to get your teeth into. We have taken time to structure the levels so that they remain fresh and challenging as you play through the game.
We decided to split the early levels into Stages of 5 levels each, introducing a new enemy in each Stage. The 5th level in each Stage will be the hardest challenge for that enemy and we have nicknamed these levels BOSS BATTLES. For example, Stage 1 (levels 1-5) introduces the player to the Cubixx and Mini Cubixx enemies; level 5 is then the boss battle where the player will face hordes of Cubixx! Complete this level and you will not only progress to Stage 2 (levels 6-10), but also unlock additional content in the other game modes; more on these mysterious modes next week!
Level 1 – Piece of cake!
Level 5 – BOSS BATTLE!
Below is a very basic breakdown of the level structure:
Levels 1-5 – Introducing you to the Cubixx and Mini Cubixx enemies.
Levels 6-10 – Featuring Line Chasers.
Levels 11-15 – Focusing on the Homer enemy.
Levels 16-20 – Introducing the destructive Asteroids.
Levels 21-25 – Including the dreaded Black Hole; my nemesis!
Levels 26-30- These levels feature various power ups/downs (and are awesome IMHO!)
Levels 31-35 – These levels see the introduction of a fast Fuse enemy, chasing the player down, and feature other enemies which slow the player down. Sounds easy but trust me, it isn’t.
Levels 36-39 – These are speed-based levels, with a fast Fuse, lots of Speed powers, etc.
Levels 40-49 – These are the earlier boss battles, but remixed to make them even harder!
Level 50 – You’ll have to wait and see what secrets this level has in store, but I can tell you now; it is very hard!
Level 46 - BOOM!!!
As you can see from the info above, there’s plenty of variation throughout the 50 levels, and that’s not even counting all the other game modes we’ve got lined up for you!
So, we hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about Cubixx HD’s level structure. We got even more really exciting news lined up in the weeks ahead, so turn on and tune in.
Thanks,
Steven.
