Flame Over coming soon. Play the game at EGX Rezzed!

Hello all,

It’s been a super-eventful week here at Laughing Jackal. After 2 long, hard years of development we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Flame Over on Vita approved by SCEE. The American approval will hopefully happen next week, with a release date looking likely in mid-to-late March. Yay!

Above: Flame Over is coming! Soon you’ll be rescuing workers from disastrous scenes like this!

In addition to that incredibly exciting news, I can also confirm that Flame Over will be available to play at EGX Rezzed in London from Thursday 12th March to Saturday 14th March 2015. So, if you’re at the show feel free to stop by and give Flame Over a go (and maybe we’ll see some old friends from EGX 2014?)

The EGX Rezzed build will naturally gain from being the finished article featuring all 16 randomly generated levels. It certainly helps that we’ll be demoing Flame Over on four whopping 40” screens (in full HD / 60fps naturally!) We can’t wait to share the game with you!

Above: This time next month you could be playing Flame Over on your very own Vita. Toasty!

Now we’re closer than ever to release you can expect to hear a lot more about Flame Over in the next few weeks. The game’s dedicated website and a new Let’s Play video should be going online next week (keep an eye on the Blog and our Twitter feed for details!) with a price announcement and game trailer just ahead of release. It’s all getting very hot indeed here at LJ Towers! ^^

So… Flame Over is nearly here! Soon you’ll be able to get your hands on Blaze’s hose and extinguisher and tackle the flames surging through the Infernal Industries building for yourselves!

Talk to you again soon,  ^_^

Flame Over gameplay revealed!

Hey everyone,

It’s been a really exciting week here at Laughing Jackal. Flame Over is well into submission now in both Europe and the US, and hopefully we’ll be getting an approval really soon. (Fingers crossed!)

The biggest news this week was on Wednesday when our first ever extended gameplay video of Flame Over went live on the PlayStation.Blog website on Wednesday 21st January. The video features 10 minutes of gameplay from Flame Over’s first level, with a voice over courtesy of my good self as I play through the level and explain some of the game features, controls, etc.

The reaction to the Let’s Play video has been overwhelmingly positive (we’re still on a high!)

Here are some of my favourite comments from the PlayStation.Blog post and the sonyplaystation Youtube channel:

“This game looks hot!” – Flying_Pig, PlayStation.Blog

“Looks flaming good! Having flashbacks of Human Softwares “The Firemen” from the SNES days. Will definitely pick this up!” – Steve_Of_The_O, PlayStation.Blog

“This game looks amazing! My Vita is going to be on fire!” – dark_angel69, PlayStation.Blog

“It looks fantastically charming, you guys have done a brilliant job. I just hope fellow Vita owners support this wonderful game.” – Alex-1124, PlayStation.Blog

“Been desperate for this since I played the build at EGX. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.  – PMurphy1978, PlayStation.Blog

“I'll be there day one, keep up the good work :)” – , Youtube – ‘sonyplaystation’ channel)

“Wow, that game looks like fun. Great job to the whole development team. Love the games look too.” – , Youtube – ‘sonyplaystation’ channel)

“Lol cat is a neat touch my wife will be all over it now” – , Youtube – ‘sonyplaystation’ channel)

“Wow im only 2 mins in and already itchy to download it. Looks exactly what Vita was missing.” – , Youtube – ‘sonyplaystation’ channel)

“looks like fun , perfect vita game” – , Youtube – ‘sonyplaystation’ channel)

We’re really excited to be so close to releasing Flame Over. We’ve already started work on the PS4 and Steam versions of the game, with PS4 being released just as soon as we can manage. The game looks pretty awesome on a big screen in full 1080p / 60fps, and we’ll share some of that stuff just as soon as we have it! ^_^

That’s all for this week. Remember, you can stay up-to-date on all things Flame Over related by checking back here regularly and by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Cheers for now,

Al

New Flame Over gameplay video goes live on SCEE PSN Blog next Wednesday, 21st Jan 2015

Hi everyone,

First up, a belated Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas holiday. ^_^

I have some great news regarding Flame Over! Now that the Vita version is content complete and in submission with Sony Europe we’ve created a Let’s Play video showing the entirety of the game’s first stage, complete with a live voice over by me! :)

During this first Flame Over ‘Let’s Play’ video I work my way through Stage 1, spending some time explaining the controls, the basic gameplay, the game’s randomly generated levels, some of the more important GUI elements, our awesome dynamic fire system and a little about the game’s side missions and persistent upgrades.

So, when can you see this AWESOME video? That’s easy! Just visit the SCEE PlayStation Blog on Wednesday 21st January at 16:00 GMT, where the video will gets it first airing.

So, what else has been happening? Well the PS4 version of the game is now being worked on, with changes to GUI, the menu system and a few other things to take advantage of our 1080p resolution and larger display size.

We can’t wait for you to get your hands on Flame Over! It’s been the product of nearly two years of really hard work and has had an incredibly positive reception both from Sony and the gaming press.

We’re confident we’ve created what’s certainly the best fire fighting game ever made (yes, even better than Burning Rangers, Roscoe McQueen: Firefighter Extreme and even my own childhood favourite, The Firemen on SNES) and something that has the potential to be a real hit on Vita and other formats.

I guess all that remains is for me to remind you to check out the SCEE PlayStation Blog next Wednesday 21st Jan at 16:00 GMT.

Remember, you can stay up-to-date on all things Flame Over related by checking back here regularly and by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Let me know what you think about the gameplay video once it goes live next Wednesday. We’ll be doing a second Let’s Play, showing more about the Upgrades system and the in-game Shop (where you can buy powerups!) very soon.

Thanks for now.

Al
