Go into Orbit with Laughing Jackal
We have lift off! Orbit will launch on the 6th December in North America and the 7th December in Europe for PlayStation Plus members who will be able to pick it up for free for two weeks after which it will go on general release for the low, low price of £2.49 / $3.49.
Here’s some info on the game as quoted from its PSN Store front metadata:
The Space Program is in peril now that there’s NO MONEY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!! That won’t stop two scientists from taking on the Orbit project, a no-budget exploration of our solar system.
Dodge through asteroid fields, and avoid nasty enemies intent on stealing cash, fuel, or just throwing slime in your eyes!
By collecting the money mysteriously floating in orbit around the planets, you’ll give the project a cash boost, upgrading shonky systems and gaining new ships to move beyond the Moon – from Mercury to Uranus – as never before!
Orbit’s research menu features almost 200 unique upgrades, plus there are hidden relics and blueprints to find, stat tracking, and 12 challenging medals to earn.
The launch pad is all set. Are you ready to get into Orbit?
In a nutshell, Orbit as an extraterrestrial and far more developed take on the classic and hugely popular Chopper-style dodging games, only with an emphasis on getting as far as you can with limited fuel. The catch here is that your team has no money and you begin your adventures with very limited aeronautical abilities. All of this action is set against the awe inspiring back-drop of the planets of our solar system.
Orbit relies on simple one-button gameplay so the only things you need to worry about are conserving fuel, collecting the good stuff and avoiding the bad stuff. To make life more fun and interesting we’ve thrown in a robust upgrade system to support the gameplay, with upgrades affecting your speed, handling, boost capabilities and how easily you can detect the various blueprints and relics you’ll need to collect. There’s also some very handy gold-hoovering stuff for you to make the most of. :)
See you next week!

Wow, whoever makes these videos needs a lil promotion!
Agreed, the trailer is awesome and the game looks great! To me the graphic style looks very similar to Ace Armstrong but with a different style of play. :P I am super excited for Orbit to be released and very happy to finally have a price and release date to look forward to. :D Keep up the great work Laughing Jackal!!!
Thanks for the great comments guys. Glad you like the trailer.
Finally! Looking forward to playing this on my PSP. Does this mean that Hungry Giraffe and the next game in the Fighting Fantasy series are definitely NOT coming out this year?
@EdEN I don't think either game will come out this year.
