In Between Projects: What We’re Working On So Far This Year
Greetings one and all and I hope you’re all having a great 2012 so far!
I’ve been asked to write the Blog this week, probably because we’re in that awkward phase between projects. Hungry Giraffe is pretty much all done: we’re one hundred per cent code approved in SCEE and the code submission for SCEA will go in any day now that we’ve finally got our ESRB rating (10+ folks - that naughty giraffe!).
In the meantime, it’s still far too early to discuss anything more regarding Mystery Game X. What I can tell you (at least I think I can!) that we’re currently working feverishly on getting the controls to feel right, which remains a subject of repeated and intense internal debate. However, I take this as a good sign. It means there’s something cool at the centre of things worth fighting for! While we all agree on the basics some of the finer points regarding responsiveness and fine control still divide those involved. I am sure we’ll hit a compromise that pleases everyone very soon. :)
To that end, Rich - our industrious programming stalwart - is busy adding features and functionality to our player script and in-house level editor. He’s off for a few weeks well-deserved holiday soon, so he’s leaving us with enough ammo to keep on trucking* while he’s away. Who knows? By the time he gets back we may have a control system agreed! [DM – It had better be!]
In other news we’re currently working on Laughing Jackal’s first ever iOS game (a conversion of a minis title). It’s early doors, but good progress is being made and we’re confident it’ll make the move across to iPhone in style. We are looking forward to that alpha build in the next week or so.
Right, I think that’s plenty of news for one week. Ross will be back next week with another Blog. In the meantime please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ and subscribe to our Youtube channel. All of that kind of stuff really does help us keep doing what we do, plus it gives us a nice warm feeling inside, like a puppy having its belly rubbed.
Bye!
Al
*I think it’s worth pointing out now that Mystery Game X has nothing to do with either ‘ammo’ or ‘trucking’. ;)

Mistery Game X... mmm, can you at least tell us if it's a PSN release or a retail game?
@EdEN I think it will probably be on PSN.
^ which brings up another question, Mini or PS3? ... or Vita??? here's hoping for trophies :D
It's on PS3. So yep, it'll include trophies. :D
Trophies... or insane Cubbixx HD Trophies? Hehehe. Had a lot of fun working on the Cubixx HD review and trophy guide... but please, go easy on us with the trophy requirements this time ;)
trophies you say... insta-buy, I don't care if its 30 pounds and has only two bronze trophies... that are AS impossible as Cubixx HD... I want my trophies :D But your games are cheap so I'm assuming no 30 pound price tag, and congrats on a 2nd HD game :)
